Flex Ltd. (FLEX) is a Singapore-based global provider of extensive design, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain management solutions to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) across Asia, the Americas, and Europe. They specialize in a range of cross-industry technologies, such as human-machine interfaces, Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, advanced power solutions, sensor fusion, and smart audio systems. A significant offering includes integrated solar trackers and software solutions tailored for utility-scale and ground-mounted distributed generation solar projects. Flex also delivers value-added design and engineering support, alongside comprehensive systems assembly and manufacturing services—these encompass enclosure fabrication, rigorous testing, and meticulous materials procurement and inventory management.

Their product line features power components like chargers for smartphones and tablets, adapters for notebooks and gaming systems, and power supplies for server, storage, and networking markets. Furthermore, they provide full power solutions, switchgear, busway, power distribution units, modular power systems, and related monitoring services.

Beyond production, Flex offers end-to-end supply chain logistics, covering both forward and after-market services for computing, consumer digital, infrastructure, industrial, mobile, automotive, and medical sectors. Their reverse logistics and repair capabilities include returns management, exchange programs, complex repairs, asset recovery, recycling, and e-waste management. The company serves a broad spectrum of industries, including cloud computing, communications, enterprise, automotive, industrial, consumer devices, lifestyle, healthcare, and energy.

Operations

From the mid-point of 2025 onward, the company’s operations have been marked by considerable efforts toward targeted restructuring of its segments—renaming and refocusing established ones and creating a brand new Cloud and Power Infrastructure division—and personnel layoffs incurring costs nearing the $100M mark, as well as heavy investment on its data-center infrastructure and ongoing share repurchase activity and margin expansion.

A missile strike on one of their manufacturing facilities in Western Ukraine further added a strain amounting to ~$50M in asset impairments, inventory write-downs, and related charges.

May 2026 was a significant period in which the company completed a ~1$B full cash acquisition of Electrical Power Products, Inc., strengthening their utility-grade capabilities. Within that same month, they also announced an intention to spin off their aforementioned Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a newly independent publicly-traded company around the time of Q12027, currently going by the proposed name of SpinCo.

Since June 2026, Flex has been promoted to the S&P 500 after a year-and-a-half of inclusion in the S&P 400 Mid-Cap index.

Valuation

Dark Datawrapper table for Flex Ltd. (FLEX) showing valuation metrics; green Applied Market Discount row at 43.20%

Key Takeaways

  • Commendable growth metrics in terms of per-share earnings and operating cash flow. ✔️

  • Margin expansion driven by higher-value data center and power infrastructure work. ✔️

The shares are currently trading at a sizable 43.20% discount to our fair value. Steadily improving profitability and capital returns stand out even against relatively muted top-line growth.

Risks ❌

  • Negligible sales per share growth over the measured period. ❌

  • Sizable supply chain leaves them exposed to continuous compliance, export-control regulations, and geopolitical disruptions. ❌

  • Customer concentration and cyclical demand in certain end markets. ❌

Operational and strategic uncertainty could affect the pace of further improvement.

Sustained Performance & Conclusion ⚠️

Variables include:

  • Ability to continue expanding margins. ⚠️

  • Successful completion and value realization from the CPI separation. ⚠️

  • Maintenance of disciplined capital allocation. ⚠️

Sales Per Share growth has remained essentially flat according to our metrics, because overall revenue expansion has been largely offset due to a combination of operational factors, most prevalent among them being the steady reduction in shares outstanding through buybacks. At the same time however, the company has improved the quality of its revenue mix and expanded both gross and operating margins.

Going forward, the current valuation discount leaves ample room, but further progress hinges on converting the operational and capital-allocation efforts into durable per-share results.
