Dell Technologies (DELL) is an Texas-based global technology leader that designs, develops, manufactures, markets, sells, and provides support for a spectrum of information technology (IT) solutions, products, and services.

The company’s business activities are structured into three primary divisions focusing on delivering enterprise-grade offerings, traditional and next-generation storage solutions, hybrid and multi-cloud environments, server configurations, information security solutions, cloud software, networking products, IT infrastructure, complementary software, personal computers, workstations, notebooks, displays and projectors, a full suite of support, and extended warranty services.

Operations

From the second half of 2025 onward to the time of writing, the company has executed a corporate restructuring campaign targeting roughly 10% of its headcount—which in turn has been added to its more general workforce reduction efforts stretching back to 2020.

The stated intentions have been streamlining of management layers and refocusing field sales toward AI products and specialized data center architecture.

Also in 2025, Dell officially retired their historical sub-brands XPS, Inspiron, Latitude, and Precision in favor of a 3-tiered structure: Dell, Dell Pro, and Dell Pro Max—further divided into Base, Plus, and Premium sub-tiers. Though later, in early 2026, the company reversed course on some of its decisions and reintroduced XPS and Precision.

By the time of 2026, smaller scale layoffs were continued, especially related to the company’s RTO policy—suspected to have been a tactic to limit mass severance payouts and optimize margins.

Dell has since released a historic Q1 earnings call, reporting a rise in revenue of 88% YoY and a 757% YoY demand surge, driven by elevated demand for GPU-packed hardware and specialized AI servers.

Valuation

Key Takeaways

  • Reported massive revenue and demand increases. ✔️

  • Highly elevated growth metrics. ✔️

  • Strong earnings and operating cash flow increases. ✔️

The company’s stock is currently trading at ATH levels on the back of its highly favorable February and May reports. Its premium is right below our threshold for a fair value estimate (~25% premium).

Risks

  • Mass layoffs and RTO policies result in employee fatigue. ❌

  • Heavily dependent on suppliers and third-party chip allocations. ❌

  • Negative book value per share. ❌

Recent demand is mostly concentrated on AI-related hardware. Operational and structural pressures could affect margins or supply reliability if demand patterns shift or supplier constraints tighten.

Sustained Performance & Conclusion

Variables include:

  • Conversion of increased AI server demand into durable revenue. ⚠️

  • Stabilization of the workforce after successive layoffs. ⚠️

  • Supply risk in a competitive AI hardware market. ⚠️

  • Improvement in balance-sheet metrics over time. ⚠️

AI infrastructure demand and the successful management of both cost and supply-chains would be the primary factors determining whether the shares can maintain their recent momentum.
